STYLE DIARY :: New York Edition

Hey guys,

Finally I’m actually doing a post regarding style using my own portfolio lol. The title itself already gives it away so this post will show y’all a couple outfits of the day whilst I was in New York.

Now before we dive in, a couple people always wonder why I love New York, namely Brooklyn, and keep returning there (this was my 3rd time): well, New York, especially Brooklyn, has always felt like “home” to me. It’s literally a home away from home and since the first time I was there, I always felt like I really “belonged” there and had lived there already. Literally, the 1st time I went there was for a school trip back in 2013 so we were only in Manhattan (typical!) and even then a couple locals thought I was local too.

As much as I loved being in Manhattan (since that was my only experience of NY), I knew that my heart really lied in Brooklyn (corny – I know lol) so last year that’s where I went: Brooklyn. Honestly, I could see myself living in Brooklyn … at least for a part of my life or part time (I really want a condo in Bed-Stuy or Crown Heights).

Though New York and London are pretty similar: fast paced, heavy use of trains/tubes (or subway, in their terms) and skyscrapers, the vibe in New York is much different than London. As snobby as this may sound, London (personally) is the best city BUT I prefer the culture in New York. Even though America is clearly NOT “the land of freedom”, greatly exemplified by the ongoing police brutality and other injustices, among the community, there seems to be a vibe of freedom and expression. Literally, coming from London, or the UK in this fact, you come across many things in New York and think “are you even allowed to do that?” whereas that’s the least of a New Yorker’s concern.

I just know I will end up in New York again – it’s one of them ones where I actually know the subway system in Manhattan and particularly, Brooklyn pretty well to go around myself (along with the help of citymapper lol).

Anyways, I don’t want to ramble too much but clearly you can tell that I love New York (:
